The EDIPI Consortium
The 9 Beneficiaries offer Ph. D. positions. The 11 Partner Organisations contribute to the training of the Ph. D.s and offer research secondments.
EDIPIEDIPI (european weather Extremes: DrIvers, Predictability and Impacts) is an international consortium of universities, research centres and private co… More aims for a streamlined network organisation and management, balancing the competing requirements of
central managerial and supervisory structures and administrative agility.
The image below shows the three scientific objectives of the project:
- Scientific Objective 1 (belonging to Work Package 5) – Enhancing the mechanistic understanding of weather extremes in present and future climates.
- Scientific Objective 2 (belonging to Work Package 6) – Advancing predictive capabilities for weather extremes.
- Scientific Objective 3 (belonging to Work Package 7) – Evaluating impacts of weather extremes under global change.
The ESRs contribution can be cross-sectoral between temperature and precipitation (ESR 6 – TAU, 11 – ETH and 14 – KIT) or between precipitation and surface wind (ESR 3 – CNRS and 8 – CNRS).
The other ESRs belong to one or the other categories:
- Temperature: ESR 4 – IC, 5 – CNRS, 9 – UU and 13 – ISGlobal.
- Precipitation: ESR 2 – UU and 10 – UU.
- Surface wind: ESR 1 – SU, 7 – IRMB and 12 – KIT.
There are some academic organisations which will act as partners during the project by awarding degrees and offering courses to the ESRs – Université de Paris-Saclay, Université de Recherche Paris Science et Lettres, École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and University of California, Davis.
In addition to these, non-academic partners will provide trainings and secondments to ESRs – AON UK Ltd., European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), AXA GIE and ALLIANZ SE Reinsurance.
